Make a Fun Cat Treat Puzzle & Maze
Share
Stimulate your cat’s mind with an eco-friendly treat puzzle or maze that keeps them entertained for hours. Cats love a good challenge, and this fun DIY project will also help them use their natural hunting instincts. Best of all, it’s easy to create with upcycled materials!
Components:
- Cardboard tubes or toilet paper rolls
- Recycled cardboard or shoebox
- Eco-friendly glue or tape
- Scissors or utility knife
- Your cat’s favourite treats
Steps:
-
Prepare Your Cardboard Maze
Begin by cutting and folding your cardboard or shoebox into a maze-like structure. Use extra pieces to divide the box into smaller sections and add barriers for a challenging path. -
Create Treat Holes
Take the toilet paper rolls or tubes and cut them into smaller pieces. Attach them to different parts of your cardboard maze, leaving holes for your cat to reach through. The tubes should hold your cat’s favourite treats inside to encourage problem-solving. -
Assemble the Puzzle
Arrange your cardboard pieces into a maze or puzzle layout, using eco-friendly glue or tape to secure everything in place. Make sure there are plenty of nooks and crannies for your cat to explore as they work for their treats. -
Place Treats and Let the Fun Begin
Hide small treats inside the tubes or scatter them throughout the maze. Place the puzzle on the floor and let your cat start their hunt!
Personalise & Enjoy:
Customise your cat’s puzzle by changing the layout or adding new sections over time to keep them engaged. Enjoy watching your cat work through their eco-friendly treat puzzle—it’s great for their mental stimulation and fun to watch!
